Manufacturing and quality expert in Asia, and always on the buyer’s side. Shanghai · mainland China · Malaysia · Hong Kong.
I’ve worked in operations, quality inspection, supplier management and export. My work has taken me from Shanghai and mainland China to Malaysia, and today I’m based in Hong Kong.
Living in these places taught me something you can’t learn from a report. A factory is made of people, habits and pressures. When you understand how decisions are made on the production line, you understand why problems happen, and how to prevent them.
I’ve worked across furniture and home furnishings, consumer goods and many other categories. I’ve audited factories, reviewed technical requirements, followed production from raw material to container, and helped buyers through testing and certification for their markets.
I’ve watched many buyers, especially small brands and e-commerce sellers, lose money on problems they never saw coming: a factory that quietly outsourced production, a failed lab test after mass production, or a container of goods that didn’t match the sample. Most of them didn’t need more services. They needed someone to tell them honestly what mattered for their product. That’s why I built KOL Quality, and why KOL stands for Key Opinion Leader.
The practical knowledge I bring to every buyer conversation.
Checking factory background, capability, certifications and export experience before you commit.
Pre-production, during-production and pre-shipment inspection, AQL sampling and golden samples.
Working out which tests and certifications your target market really requires, and when to do them.
ISO and industrial standards such as EN 1090, ASME, AWS and ASTM. As a certified ESG analyst, I also look at responsibility and environmental impact.
From Hong Kong, I advise buyers on sourcing and quality decisions. When a project needs hands-on work, such as a factory audit, an inspection or a lab test, I coordinate it through a trusted quality service company and partner laboratories in China that I’ve worked with closely.
I’m open about these partnerships. They let me offer reliable work on the ground at a fair cost. But my role is always the same: I work for you, the buyer. If you don’t need a service, I’ll tell you.
I’ve lived in Shanghai, mainland China, Malaysia and Hong Kong. I work in English and Chinese. And I believe good quality control should be practical, affordable and easy to understand.
